PCR tests guide

16.10.2020

Dear colleagues,

After the online meeting we held on Thursday and focusing on the PCR test(s) protocols, we are kinldy asking for your collaboration to create a useful guide that will help all of you have more details about these protocols regarding PCR.

As a general reminder, we have to follow the 'golden rules':

  1. You must have a NEGATIVE PCR test result 72 hours prior to the arrival in the game country (you cannot start your travel without a negative PCR test). Stand-by referees must also have a NEGATIVE PCR test within 72 hours prior to the arrival in the game country.
  2. You must have a NEGATIVE PCR test result within 72 hours prior to the start of the game
  3. You must check specific rules (if any) valid for your arrival in the game's country.
  4. You must check the rules for returning to your own countries

At this point is where we are asking for your collaboration.

As many of you know, there are several countries that are currently offering the possibility to have a PCR test done after landing at the destination - at the airport.

The easiest way to know which countries/airports are offering this PCR test upon arrival in order to share with all the coleagues is to ask each of you to inform us (sending an email to: fergar273@gmail.com & davorin.nakic@fiba.basketball) about the airports that are offering this PCR test in your own country, together with the protocols (place to do it - when the results can be sent - price...). If this option is not possible for whatever reason, the second option is that the local TD will manage this possible and necessary second PCR test in order to fully meet the BCL protocols.

As an example we are leaving the following links that can help to get an idea of what we are requesting from you.

TURKEY - ISTANBUL (IST)

TURKEY - SABIHA (SAW)

GREECE - ATHENS (ATH)

ITALY - MILAN MALPENSA (MXP)

GERMANY - MUNICH (MUC)

GERMANY - FRANKFURT (FRA)

We will also create a specific folder on our website for you to check.

We would like also to give you some recommendations to follow:

  • Please, ask the local TD to send you any update on the country's situation (if any) as soon as you get in contact with him/her.
  • As soon as you receive the nomination, please check the conditions for a safe return to your home country (PCR, quarantine...)
