WEEKLY LETTER PLAY-INS 2

15.01.2024

Dear Referees and Video Observers.

Thank you all for your performances in the recent BCL games, PLAY-INS, GD 02

From the feedback and my live monitoring, all nominated crews were ready for what was expected. Mostly inside the crew, we had a similar performance level; in one game, one Referee was above his two colleagues, and in one game two colleagues were above the third official. No spectacular difference, all was good officiating as a crew.

Performance level, PLAY-INS, GD 02

As you can see, the main characteristic is mainly above the standard level of officiating. This is our target, soon I hope we'll have above standard as our targeting standard.

The overall feedback on BCL games, PLAY-INS, GD 02, recognitions by your Video Observers:

Points to keep/positive

  1. Approach 50:50
  2. Good and consistent criteria, clear for the teams
  3. Proper teamwork and good communication among the crew
  4. Contacts:
  • Off the ball illegal contacts

  • Rebounds – fighting for position

  • HCC

  • AOS control

    5.     Mental strength to keep the concentration until the last moment of the game.

Points for improvement

  1. Discipline in areas of standard set for improvement:
  • quick whistle
  • marginal calls
  • double whistle vs. patient whistle.

    2.    OOB situations – especially decisions from the Lead position, opposite side

(visible also through the successful HCC requests OOB situations)

    3.    Avoid wrong decisions in obvious play situations (you can see it on separate folders in our website).

UF criteria

In 8 games, we have 5 UF decisions, one was Incorrect.

By criteria: C1 3x, C2, C3, C4 – 1x. We have one incorrect not called UF.

Head Coach Challenge

Time-consuming per situation: 57''

Note – in some OOB situations the Coaches were dissappointed because they had to use their HCH for obvious play situations, and they couldn't keep their HCH for more tough and important play situations.

Referees – IRS usage

Time-consuming per situation (average) - 70''

Dear All.

I'll keep for Play-Ins GD 03 my main message sent last week EXPECT EXPECTED!

Please read my last weeks message, with some of my additional deliveries:

Be, and stay calm. Teams will pressure; they are creating pressure and they like to transfer it towards us. Déjà vu, we've seen this in all seasons. The winners in such situations, are the people who stay calm, and confident. Play Ins GD 03 is another day in the office with our HIGH:

  1. Professionalism
  2. Good preparation for the game (scouting, game plan)
  3. Quality delivery
  4. Calmness
  5. Respect for the BCL as a Competition, teams, and spectators
  6. Communication with the game members. Try to extend the borders, please don't be hot, or aggressive. On the other side protect your proper job/decisions, our image, and dignity in case of aggressive and disrespectful behavior after our communication.

It will be very important to avoid the mistakes in obvious play situations, (call/no call). Regarding IRS usage or HCH requests, there is no time limit in the decisive part of the game.

I wish you a great week of officiating in BCL, FEC, ELW, and ECW games.
