Dear Referees and Video Observers.

Thank you all for your performances in the recent BCL games, PLAY-INS, GD 03

That's it.

Last week we had 5 decisive, do-or-die games. From my monitoring, and feedback by our Referee Observers (live or from TV), it was visible we showed a high-level of delivery in all five games. Of course, we had a small number of mistakes. In 3 games, 9 Referees get our targeted level of above standard officiating; what we hope to become our expected standard. In 2 other games, we have very good officiating by all 6 Referees.

The overall feedback on BCL games, PLAY-INS, GD 02, and recognitions by your Video Observers:

Points to keep/positive.

  1. Correct and consistent criteria
  2. Communication with participants
  3. Proper 3PO and IOT

Points for improvement

Discipline in areas of:  

  • quick whistle
  • marginal calls
  • double whistle vs. patient whistle.

UF criteria

In 5 games, we had 2 UF, 1x C1 and 1xC4 decisions, both correct.

We also had one CC PF, but this call should have been upgraded to an UF.

Dear All.

This week we'll open the next page for the BCL Competition. The best 16 teams have advanced. In all games moving forward, every point counts. The quality level of the games will be higher, so this is an excellent opportunity for you all to continue to show your own very high standards.

The FIBA Europe Cup, is also coming to the decisive, do-or-die part of the Season. From all nominated Referees I am expecting the best possible officiating delivery. The FEC competition is growing rapidly, and for the nominated Referees it is a privilege to be part of that competition at this stage of the season.

For Everyone, all of you have received nominations for the national teams' games at the end of February. Please follow the same approach as we have in the BCL, and all FIBA Competitions. Our expected target is the same; offciiating at the above standard level.
