WEEKLY REPORT - 5

Dear Referees.
We have passed through an intensive 3-week period with a mixture of the Club and National Teams' competitions. The intensity is very visible from the overall total of 60 games (BCL, QR World Cup, QR EBM2025, and FEC). From our side, your overall level of performance was good for the importance of the games. Regarding the last BCL game days, Nov 1st & 2nd, below you can find the feedback received from the Video Observers:
POSITIVE
The main positive point is the correct game control through the contact criteria, decisions (call/no call), and our approach to how we communicate with the players and coaches
TO IMPROVE
Marginal calls. The number of marginal calls is currently stopping us moving from standard officiating to above-standard officiating. As I wrote in some of my previous material, we should, and now we must, increase our level to have more above standard and very good standard officiating games. Our continued Standard officiating level is a sign of over self-satisfaction, a sign of our life in our comfort zone. The standard officiating level cannot, and must not, be our target.
IRS USAGE
- Coach Challenge - we had 4 play situations
In 3 situations coaches asked for the review of out of bounds situations.
After review, the referees corrected 2 decisions.
The fourth situation was a request for an upgrade decision from PF to UF.
The final decision was not corrected.
- Referees - IRS usage in 10 play situations.
We corrected - 2x game clock, 1x basket valid EOQ, 1x upgrade of PF to UF. One correction, OOB, was incorrect.
UF SITUATIONS
In the area of UF decisions, we had 4 situations. Two situations were correct, one incorrect, and one inconclusive from the TV screen.
Our Video Observers Team have created an article with the most significant areas of your officiating from the beginning of the season. Please, use this material as preparation/pre-game for the upcoming games.
Dear Referees, the last five weeks of 2022 will be a period of decisive games, especially for a number of our BCL teams. I'd like to point out, and remind you, that it's not only winning that's important, for some teams every point will count. As I have said many times, you have the great privilege of officiating these games, but with the privilege comes the responsibility. Be your best for every second.
From my side, I am expecting a high level of motivation, emotional discipline, and top-level service for our customers, the teams, players, and coaches. You have your SEF feedback, Video Observers' feedback, and my notes after each round, it's a simple message, just follow the OBR, OBRI, Protocols, and information received from the Video Observers and myself.
I wish you a successful continuation of the BCL Regular Season.
