WEEKLY REPORT - GD7
Dear Referees.
During the past few years, and the COVID pandemic, how many times have we heard this 'new, modern' sentence; The next three weeks are the most important?
In our BCL Competition this is a reality because by the end of December, after GD10, there will not be a second chance. These next three weeks ARE the most important for BCL teams.
After GD7 the BCL teams had a period of recovery, upgrade, and renewal. This was not the case for you, our BCL Referees. Instead, you continued at full speed into National Teams competition where your performances were under the global spotlight. The FIBA World video observers collected data and analyzed your games as we do, and they quantified your overall performance as 'standard plus'.
Some data (missed
3 games):

The numbers speak for themselves, over 98.85% of your performances were at our standard baseline of acceptance or above, with 31% achieving what we desire and our target for BCL Competition, above standard or very good. My challenge to you, over the last 3 RS sets of games, is to increase the percentage of above standard and very good performances.
In one game
we had a 'not acceptable' with a no call in the act of shooting, landing
control:
We have emphasized this action for many seasons, it is a part of our POE, but in this instance, we didn't respect the fundamentals. For one moment we showed a bad image for our job.
Shortly about the last game day, RS GD 7:
From our Video Observers, area for improvement is still focus on fundamentals. With focus, your performance level will be higher. That may seem very simple, but for some of you, it is visible that you don't have a correct approach to the fundamentals.
We used IRS 12 times, we changed 2 original decisions, all 12 final decisions were correct.
In all games GD07 we had 6 UFs, all correct. Once we decided normal foul, contact fulfilled criteria to be UF.
The next 3 weeks are the most important for our Teams.
This is the
truth; we will be under the spotlight. For the teams every point will count,
for us every decision will count. Your preparation for these games will need to
be of the highest standard, your concentration during these games will need to
be of the highest standard. As Elite FIBA referees you are prepared, and you
have the tools. Now is the time to 'expect the expected', the additional
tensions, emotions, and pressure. Every losing player and coach will want to
use us as their reason 'why'. With strong, decisive performances you will not
only be managing the game, but you will be laying a foundation for your place
in the next stage of the BCL Competition.
Dear Referees.
I wish you successful officiating during the most important three weeks of the BCL Regular Season 2021/ 2022.
