WEEKLY REPORT - ROUND OF 16 - 1
Dear Referees.
Thank you for the flexibility you are showing during the continued COVID difficulties. This week in the BCL we have another 3 games postponed. Unfortunately, last week we had some of you already at the venues when we received the news whilst others we managed to stop at the last minute from traveling. I would also like to thank those officials who offered to jump onto games where colleagues were required to be replaced.
For the second time this season, last week, we also had to use 2PO. Thank you to that crew who put in a big effort and did a very good job. So, thank you to all of you for your efforts and readiness to fulfill your duties in the present very difficult covid time.

Whilst watching the BCL games last week it appeared several mistakes were made in controlling the act of shooting actions, please see some examples in the video below:
Dear Referees, this it is not our standard and is a bad image of our work. We must keep our concentration and understand that we have 'ugly' but regular play situations, which should be a no call. If we do not respect the fundamentals, of our IOT and Mechanics, these incorrect calls will continue to happen and all our hard work so far this season will come crashing down.
In front of us, before a short BCL break, we have two BCL game days. I am sure you are in top officiating shape and ready to do your job, as you did in a few last rounds. Yes, we have set you a very high standard to attain but there should be no excuses not to keep the same level of performances that we have witnessed.
In all basketball games the participants are making mistakes. There is even one famous quote made by the great basketball coach, Bobby Knight:
Basketball is a game of mistakes
However, from our side, as Referees, we should work to reduce number of mistakes as much as possible. We cannot avoid mistakes, but with our discipline in fundamentals we'll reduce mistakes to an acceptable number.
We wish you success in upcoming games.
